Kaine Sets Dec. 11 Election For Davis Seat
Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine has set Dec. 11 as the date for a special election to replace the late Congresswoman Jo Ann Davis. The four-term Republican lawmaker died Oct. 6.
The 1st Congressional District stretches from the Hampton Road areas to the outer Washington, D.C. suburbs, and is heavily Republican. At least a half dozen candidates are vying for the GOP nomination, including Davis’ widower, Chuck Davis, a retired fire battalion chief.
