In the episode, the actress, whose brother is actor Jason Bateman, played Syndey, a mother of an autistic child who uses medical marijuana and shares it with her kid. Cooper (Paul Adelstei) and Pete (Tim Daly) get in a heated argument when they learn about this.

Meanwhile, the relationship between Addison (Kate Walsh) and Sam (Taye Diggs) continues to grow. However Addison has second thoughts about going public with their new romance, but Sam pushes her to be honest, especially to her best friend Naomi (Audra McDonald), who is also Sam's ex-girlfriend.
