Recreational Vehicles
The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) commissioned a study in 2001 by the University of Michigan that indicates that U.S. ownership of RVs has reached record levels. Nearly one in 12 U.S. vehicle-owning households now owns an RV. That's nearly 7 million households–a 7.8 percent increase in the past four years and a 42 percent gain over the past 21 years.
Today's typical RV owner is 49 years old, married, with an annual household income of $56,000–higher than the median for all households, according to a University of Michigan study. RV owners are likely to own their homes and spend their disposable income on traveling–an average of 4,500 miles and 28-35 days annually, RVIA surveys show.
More RVs are now owned by baby boomers (35-to-54 year olds) than any other group, according to the University of Michigan study. This is also the fastest growing segment of the RV market.
Football Moms
Winning has a new definition on the football field in Somers, N.Y. The NFL's Junior Player Development Program aims to introduce kids to football and keep their interest level high.
The 4-year-old program now includes moms as coaches in Somers. Why? The NFL hopes to make football an experience for the whole family and add a woman's touch to the teaching aspect as it attempts to keep the attention of kids on football, rather than soccer and other sports or computers, video games and DVD's.
So far, about 20 moms survived a training program which began last fall.. and have taken to the field as coaches in a three-week clinic for 12-to-14 year olds which began last week. All the reaction thus far has been positive.

Adopting A Greyhound
The "Great Greyhound Goodwill Air Tour" has begun! Pilot Maggie McCurry's 3-week, 8,000-mile, 20-state, 26-city cross-country journey aims to raise awareness about former racing greyhounds available for adoption. Each day she will pick up two greyhounds in one city and fly them to an adoption program in another. The event also is designed to give the public a peek at what's going on in greyhound advocacy and adoption. Each year, there are 25,000 "retired" greyhounds that need new homes and over 200 volunteer run agencies that try to place them. These "retired" greyhounds make great pets. They are young (usually about 2 years old), playful, loving, and they desperately need new homes. If they don't, they are destroyed.
