NEW YORK (CBS) Juliette Lewis was briefly hospitalized Wednesday night after her chauffeured Lincoln Town Car was struck by an unidentified hit-and-run driver.

The 37-year-old actress was leaving an event for her new movie "Conviction" when the car was struck in Burbank, Calif., just after 10 p.m., according to published reports.

"The sedan Juliette was traveling in was completely totaled," says her rep Carleen Donovan told People Magazine.

"Ms. Lewis ... is a bit banged up and sore but otherwise thankfully okay. She is now resting at home."

"Ms. Lewis complained about pain to her back and neck and back of her head and had bruising on her arm," says Burbank Police Department spokesman Sgt. Robert Quesada in a statement reported by E! News.

Police are currently investigating. If found, the driver faces a felony hit-and-run charge.
