Julie Chen's Miss Muffet Syndrome
Julie Chen is afraid of anything creepy or crawly.
So as part of a new The Early Show series called Facing Our Fears, the co-anchor agreed to visit the bug collection at New York's American Museum of Natural History.
Curator Mark Siddall introduced Chen to a variety of insects. He pointed out that scorpions and spiders are not insects but arachnids. Similarly, centipedes and millipedes belong to a group called Myriapoda.
Whether it is an insect or not, Chen says, she afraid of "anything that has a lot of legs. And if there's hair on top of them, that's even worse."
After being introduced to two scorpions, Chen agreed to handle a best beetle.
to see what happened.
