(CBS/WBZ/AP) PORTSMOUTH, N.H. - Julianne McCrery, a Texas woman accused of killing her 6-year-old son Camden Pierce Hughes and leaving his body on a dirt road in Maine, was formally charged with two felony counts of second-degree murder Thursday in a New Hampshire courtroom.

Prosecutors say McCrery "knowingly and recklessly" caused the death of her son by asphyxiation. No other details were revealed at her arraignment, reports CBS station WBZ.

McCrery did not enter a plea, and when the judge asked if she wanted a court-appointed attorney responded, "yes, ma'am," according to the station.

Earlier Thursday, McCrery's attorney said his client is suicidal and wants to "be in heaven with her son."

McCrery, 42, of Irving, Texas, was arrested in Massachusetts Wednesday night on a fugitive of justice charge. That charge stems from a warrant New Hampshire police issued charging McCrery with second-degree murder in the death of Camden on May 14.

Camden's body was found along a road in South Berwick, Maine. A nationwide search was launched to ascertain his identity.

Sources told CBS station WBZ that McCrery admitted to killing her son after her arrest Wednesday.

Her attorney said she did not admit to him that she killed her son, even though police told him she "confessed to this in detail."

McCreary was ordered held without bail Thursday in Portsmouth. She is due in court for a probable cause hearing on May 26.
