Julia Stiles Stars In New "Bourne" Flick

While some of her peers are going to jail or rehab, Julia Stiles quietly pursues her acting career. One magazine recently dubbed her the least-troubled girl in Hollywood.

She lives in New York — avoiding the Los Angeles scene — and graduated from Columbia University with a degree in English. But she doesn't see herself as that different than many other young actresses.

"I think there — actually there are a lot of really smart talented actresses my age," she told The Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith. "I think the ones that are different from that tend to get more attention, but, you know, that's fine by me."

Stiles is reprising her role as CIA operative Nicky Parsons, the only person who's willing to help Jason Bourne figure out his true identity, in "The Bourne Ultimatum."

It's the third installment of the hugely successful series starring Matt Damon as Bourne. It this movie, Bourne finally remembers his past and is out for revenge.

The movies have helped take Stiles from a teen sensation who starred in "10 Things I Hate About You" to a force to be reckoned with.

"I'm proud to be a part of this franchise," she said. "I was actually really impressed that Paul Greengrass, the director, didn't try to repeat the second one. I think it's good."

Filming the Bourne movies was a special experience because the cast and crew traveled to many international locations like Madrid, Tangiers and Morocco, where Stiles said many of the sound effects were the real noises of the city.

The texture of these places makes the movies different than other action films, Stiles said. "They are shot differently," she said. "It's more gritty and not as slick as I think action movies tend to be."

As the movies progressed, so did Stiles' character, she said.

"In the first one, I think you kind of really didn't know what my character was doing, but that ended up paying off in this one," she said. "Because it turns out she'd been around since the beginning and she had more information than anyone expected."

Up next for Stiles is "Gospel Hill," co-starring Angela Basset and Danny Glover, about a murder that happened in the South during the civil rights movement.
