Judge Limits Stevens To Five Character Witnesses

Judge Emmet Sullivan has limited Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) to five character witnesses at his corruption trial, rather than the 11 sought by Stevens' attorneys.

Stevens will still be able to call as many witnesses as he wants to rebut specific portions of the government's case. but Judge Sullivan and prosecutors opposed unlimited or duplicative character witnesses.
