Joseph Gordon-Levitt cast in "The Dark Knight Rises"

Joseph Gordon-Levitt will reteam with "Inception" director Christopher Nolan to play a heavy in "The Dark Knight Rises," the third Batman film from Nolan.

Variety reports that Gordon-Levitt will play Alberto Falcone, son of Carmine Falcone from "Batman Begins," also known as The Holiday Killer.

Yes, Gordon-Levitt is the bad guy. That may seem like a stretch - this is the kid from "Third Rock from the Sun," after all - but he's done well in roles in darker movies, including "The Lookout" and "Brick."

Anne Hathaway was recently cast as Catwoman in "The Dark Knight Rises." Its scheduled release date is July 20, 2012.
