Joplin tornado's wrath captured on the Web by horrified citizens

(CBS/What's Trending) - The recent Joplin, Missouri tornado devastation follows a line of natural disasters that have wrecked their way through the southern United States, leaving destroyed homes and torn families along their path. At least 89 people have died during this recent event, and the number is expected to rise as rescue workers sort through the rubble. 

To date, the National Weather received more than 660 tornado reports in April, nearly 100 more than the last three Aprils combined and more than three times the average for April.

One of the many pictures that has surfaced from the disaster is this photograph of where the Joplin Walmart used to be. The picture has been shared over 140,000 times since this morning. Many more photos were shared that give us a glimpse of the tornado's path.

Videos from storm chasers and other citizens have also emerged.
