Jolie, Pitt Help Build Sudanese Clinic

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's Jolie-Pitt Foundation has donated $100,000 to help support the construction of the Duk Lost Boys Clinic in Southern Sudan, the charity organization Direct Change announced Thursday.

The donation will help fund the final construction and ongoing operations for the first modern medical facility serving 150,000 residents of Duk County, Sudan, a press release said.

The Duk Lost Boys Clinic is scheduled to open later this year and is the brainchild of John Dau, the Director of Direct Change's Sudan Project.

Dau was featured in the film "God Grew Tired of Us," winner of both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. Pitt was an executive producer on the film.

"Words cannot express my gratitude and gratitude of the people of Duk County Sudan," John Dau said in a statement. "Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt demonstrate the American spirit of generosity. Hopefully, their donation will inspire others to join with us to rebuild southern Sudan."

Dau oversees Direct Change's work in Sudan.

Jolie and Pitt have been in the news recently for adopting another orphaned child, this time from Vietnam. Jolie left Vietnam on Wednesday with 3-year-old son Pax Thien Jolie.
