John Travolta Gets Animated

Movie stars don't get much bigger than John Travolta.

Travolta has been making movies for more than 30 years and they have earned more than $2 billion in the U.S. alone.

"Well, I kind of like the longevity one because it keeps me going. I don't mind the idea that I have done well, I'll take them both," Travolta told Early Show co-anchor Julie Chen.

Longevity and staying on top isn't easy Hollywood.

"My publicist recently said to me 'Do you have any idea of how well it is going for you?' I said I really don't and he said 'Well, maybe it's better that way.' I try not to put too much significance on any up or down, so I can kind of stay conservative about the whole thing. I think me living not in Hollywood and having an objective perspective on my career and my fame and whatever goes along with that allows me to have a longer career," he explained.

Travolta recently stopped by The Early Show to talk about his recent role in the animated film, "Bolt," a role unlike any he's experienced before.

Although he has been asked to do animated films over the years, he didn't see the perfect fit until "Bolt."

"'Bolt' was the first time that it indicated as the right character," Travolta said.

"When I read the script and I read that the character was so guileless, kind of naïve, fun and touching. I said maybe this is the one to do," he said. "The animators really sketch it to your voice; it's not the other way around."

Miley Cyrus lends her voice in the film as well, which was very impressive to Travolta's daughter, Ella, who is a huge Miley fan.

"She adores her and Miley has been so gracious toward Ella, inviting her to meet her sister and to share the common realities of a famous family and all of these wonderful things. When I told her the news that I was actually doing a song with Miley, I think that I became very popular, very quickly," Travolta admitted.

Travolta pointed out the similarity of Cyrus and Olivia Newton-John's fame from "Grease" in his day.

"When we cast Olivia in 'Grease' years ago, Olivia meant something to society. She was every guy's dream of a girlfriend and every girl wanted to be like her. So I feel like Miley is taking on that same kind of role today. So, to me, I feel very lucky. I have Olivia Newton-John of my day and Miley Cyrus of today. I feel very fortunate," Travolta said.

"Bolt" will be out in theaters on Friday.
