Job Hunting and Interview Tips in Bite-Sized Video Clips
My son is preparing his first-ever resume and looking for a job that isn't just about mowing lawns, so I've been looking for online resources to help him learn the basics of job hunting and interviewing skills. As is appropriate for someone who grew up watching video clips of cats on Roombas and comical skateboarding accidents, I found a resource for him on YouTube.
A corporate recruiter named Brian Krueger has a YouTube channel with 68 short video clips on basic job search and interview skills.
You'll find lots of helpful tips in bite-sized chunks. Indeed: The very first video I watched, on cover letter tips, I found a nugget that I should have known, but didn't. In the cover letter, you should say what you next step is going to, and actually do it -- few companies will reach out to you based on your cover letter and resume, so you need to take the next step.
These videos are really aimed at folks just getting started, but there's stuff here even for people who have been around the block a few times. If you're dusting off your resume, be sure to check this out. [Thanks to reader MartinJ for sending me this.]
