Jessica Simpson's Fashion Line Expected to Generate $1 Billion in Sales

Singer Jessica Simpson engaged to former NFL player Eric Johnson. Previously, Simpson dated Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo from November 2007 to July 2009. The relationship was controversial among some Dallas Cowboys fans, as she was blamed when Romo had poor football performances.

NEW YORK (CBS) Jessica Simpson's clothing line has proven to be a celebrity brand with great economic strength.

According to Women's Wear Daily, Jessica Simpson Collection is expected to hit the $1 billion sales mark next year.

In 2010 alone, Simpson's fashion line, which includes handbags, clothing, shoes, accessories, fragrance and luggage at affordable price points, brought in $750 million in sales.

"She is the girl next door and has great product that surrounds her," Vince Camuto, who owns the brand's master license, told WWD. "People like her. People look at her as a style icon."

Simpson, who recently got engaged to NFL player Eric Johnson, is expanding her collection with a sportswear line, due next fall.

"Since entering the fashion industry, I've envisioned including a sportswear line in my lifestyle brand," Simpson said according to the press release. "This new sportswear line reflects my evolving style, which combines comfort, femininity and flirty fun."
