Jennifer Lopez talks about Kelly Clarkson's "Idol" moment
Kelly Clarkson's powerful rendition of her song "Piece by Piece" on "American Idol" on Thursday brought many people to tears: herself, audience members, judges Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez and even "Late Night" host Seth Meyers.
Lopez talked about the emotional moment during a "Late Night" interview, and said that she was so entranced by Clarkson's performance that she didn't even see Urban crying.
"I was so into her performance, I didn't even realize Keith Urban was falling apart next to me," Lopez said. "Not one time did I look next to me and notice he was sobbing." She said she only saw he was crying when she watched the episode on TV later.
Lopez said this is a more emotional season than usual since it is the final season of the series. "It's hard," she said. "It brought us so many great moments."
The two talked about how the song was particularly moving because it was about Clarkson's relationships with her father, husband and children.
