Jennifer Grey on "Dirty Dancing" lift: "Never rehearsed it, never done it since"
Baby and Johnny did a lot of rehearsing in "Dirty Dancing," but in reality Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze didn't practice much, at least for that famous lift scene anyway.
"I only did it on the day I shot it," Grey, 55, recently told The Guardian. "Never rehearsed it, never done it since."
Wow, they sure had us fooled.
Still, to this day, fans of the 1987 movie will try their hand at that lift, something that Grey can't believe.
"I don't know how all these people who re-enact it have the guts to throw themselves into the arms of anyone other than Patrick Swazye," Grey added. "It's insane!"
Meanwhile, don't expect Grey to ever do it again, even though she gets asked to just about every day, she says.
"It's a non-starter. It happened, enjoy it, watch it over and over again but never ask me to do it again because I'm too f**king old," Grey said, laughing: "I have a family and I want to live longer."
Sigh. At least we can re-watch the moment over and over again to our hearts content.
