Jefferson Says He's Innocent, Corruption Trial Begins In January

Declaring himself innocent of the corruption charges filed against him earlier this week, embattled Rep. William Jefferson (D-La.) vowed to keep fighting as he spoke to reporters on the steps of a Virginia courthouse on Friday morning, reports Politico's Dan Reilly.

“I am going to fight my heart out to clear my name,” Jefferson said. “I implore you in the press and public to keep an open mind until all the facts are on the table.
