Jeff Bridges releases solo album
(CBS) Actor Jeff Bridges has segued into a role he once played on the big screen.
Bridges, who won a best actor Oscar for his role as a washed-up country legend in "Crazy Heart" recorded a major-label studio album, titled "Jeff Bridges," due Aug. 16 on Blue Note Records.
"The wonderful thing about acting," Bridges tells NPR's "Morning Edition," is that you can use all your talents and interests in your work."
He teamed up with T-Bone Burnett, a Grammy-winning songwriter, musician and producer on his solo debut. The pair first met on the set of "Heaven's Gate," director Michael Cimino's notorious 1980 flop. Burnett also picked songs for the "Big Lebowski" soundtrack and worked on the "Crazy Heart" original soundtrack, which won him an Oscar.
"Bridges" also features guest appearances by Tom Waits, Greg Brown, Sam Phillips and Bo Ramsey, among others.
