Jeanne Tripplehorn joins cast of CBS' "Criminal Minds"

(CBS News) Jeanne Tripplehorn has joined the cast of CBS' "Criminal Minds." She'll portray a profiler on season eight starting this fall.

Tripplehorn, 49, replaces Paget Brewster, who left the drama after seven seasons.

For five seasons, Tripplehorn co-starred with Bill Paxton in the cable series "Big Love."

She was nominated for a best supporting actress Emmy Award for her portrayal of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy in the 2009 TV film "Grey Gardens."

Tripplehorn has also guest starred on Fox's "New Girl" and appeared in the films "Sliding Doors," "The Firm" and "Basic Instinct."

"Criminal Minds" airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
