January Jones Confirmed for "X-Men: First Class"
NEW YORK (CBS) January Jones is set to play a mutant.
The Emmy-nominated "Mad Men" star has signed on for the newest X-Men film, "X-Men: First Class."
According to Deadline.com, Jones will play Emma Frost, a gorgeous mutant with telepathic powers. In the comic series, Frost, also known as the White Queen, was a onetime foe of the X-Men, but eventually joins their team. She is always dressed in white, can read minds, alter memories and turn her skin into diamonds.
The Matthew Vaugn-directed film, which will focus on younger versions of the mutant superheroes, will also star Michael Fassbender (Magneto), James McAvoy (Professor Charles Xavier), Nicolas Hoult (Beast), Zoe Kravitz (Angel), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) and Oliver Platt (The Man in Black), according to the report.
Kevin Bacon will play the villain, and Rose Byrne will play McAvoy's love interest.
Jones is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at this year's Emmy awards for her role as Betty Draper on "Mad Men."
