Jan Hooks, "Saturday Night Live" veteran, dead at 57
"Saturday Night Live" alum Jan Hooks died Thursday after a long illness, a representative from her talent agency confirmed to CBS News. She was 57.
Hooks was a part of the comedy troupe from 1986 to 1991, often paired with Nora Dunn in the "Sweeney Sisters" skits, and was also known for her impressions ranging from Sinead O'Connor to Hillary Clinton to Kathie Lee Gifford.
She moved on to join the cast of "Designing Women," but still made periodic appearances on "SNL" until 1994. She also appeared on "3rd Rock From the Sun," "The Dana Carvey Show," "The Simpsons" and others.
Later she was nominated for an Emmy award for her role as Vera Maroney on "30 Rock."
