Jake and Vienna's Break-Up (PICTURES) Should Be No Surprise
NEW YORK (CBS) There have been 14 "Bachelors" before Jake Pavelka, but only one of the realty TV match-ups has led to the altar and even that didn't go according to script .
Pavelka and Vienna Girardi, the woman to whom he proposed earlier this year on the finale of the latest season of ABC's hit show "The Bachelor," have just announced their breakup. It's the latest in a long string of splits for the show.
Only seven of the 14 stars of "The Bachelor" actually chose to propose to the winner on the show and all of those couples have since broken up.
The only "Bachelor" wedding was the one this winter between season 13 "Bachelor" Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney, the runner-up from that season. Mesnick was the bachelor who famously changed his mind, leading to an "After the Final Rose" special. Mesnick had chosen in the finale to propose to Melissa Rycroft but then changed his mind, broke up with Rycroft and proposed to Malaney. The two were married in February, generating yet another "Bachelor" special .
Rycroft, like Pavelka, was later recruited as a contestant on "Dancing with the Stars."
