According to a report on ynetnews.com, the Web site of Israeli broadsheet Yedioth Ahronoth, Giora Eiland (seen at left) told a national security conference Thursday:

"To our regret, there is no Israeli military capability that would enable us to reach a situation whereby Iran's nuclear capabilities are destroyed without the possibility of recovery… The maximal achievement that Israel can accomplish is to disrupt and suspend Iran's nuclear program."

Eiland goes on to warn that Israel would have to coordinate any attack on Iran closely with the U.S. — as such a strike would likely prompt Iran to lash out at both Israeli and American interests in the region with a barrage of missile fire.
