Is the Kanye/Jay-Z record coming out July 4 or not?
(CBS) On Thursday, several music news outlets, including Rolling Stone and Pitchfork, published blog posts about the long-rumored Kanye West and Jay-Z collaboration, "Watch the Throne." Word was the record was due Monday, July 4.
VH1 has thrown cold water on those reports, writing, "Contrary to reports earlier today that speculated that "Watch The Throne," Kanye West and Jay-Z's highly anticipated new collaborative album, would be released on July 4, VH1 can exclusively confirm that the record will NOT be dropping on our nation's birthday."
Citing sources close to Jay-Z, the site reports it's just not happening. SO WHEN IS IT HAPPENING? Not while you're grilling and watching fireworks, apparently.
