In an interview set to air Wednesday on CNN's "Parker Spitzer," Eliot Spitzer asked the "30 Rock" star if he was ready to "get into this game."
"The answer is: Yes, it's something that I am very, very interested in," Baldwin said. "People would say to me all the time, 'Why would you want to do that?' And sometimes I don't want to do it because to leave what I am doing now would be extremely painful."

Baldwin has won two Emmy awards for his portrayal of Jack Donaghy on "30 Rock" and told Spitzer that he loves where is acting career is right now.
"However, I do believe that people want to believe that someone, who deeply cares about the middle class ... would like to see public office," said Baldwin, known for his outspoken liberal views and blogs frequently about politics for the Huffington Post.
He's not sure that he'd move out of New York, though, to pursue politics.
"I have sometimes thought I could move to New Jersey or Connecticut and run. I'd love to run against Joe Lieberman. I have no use for him. But it's all fantasy," Baldwin said in 2009 in a Playboy magazine interview.
In 2008, Baldwin told "60 Minutes" correspondent Morley Safer that he still hasn't given up his childhood dream of being a politician.
"There's no age limit on running for office, to a degree. Something I might do, one day," Baldwin said.
