iPod Touch upgrade could mean end of iPod classic
(CBS) - Remember vinyl records? Oh, right. They've made a comeback and are filling the lofts of every hipster that is remotely connected to the 1980s.
We predict that someday, the iPod Classic will join the ranks of vintage technology that is a quirky status symbol for the class of 2030. Sweet! Someday I'll be able to sell all of my gadgets in the antiques section on eBay.
A new round of rumors has surfaced pointing to the death of the iPod Classic when the Touch gets an upgrade. The Unofficial Apple Weblog alleges the iPod Classic and iPod Shuffle are "getting the axe this year." Super sad face! How many of us made the transition from CDs to digital music because of that sexy little guy?
As CNET points out, Apple's event on October 4 doesn't mention the iPod. The company usually launches products on a predictable schedule. This year has been one of the most unpredictable for the company. First, co-founder Steve Jobs steps down as chief executive officer. Now, the iPod classic and shuffle may join him in retirement.
We suppose all good things must come to an end. Otherwise, there wouldn't be room for a retro comeback. Move over vintage Hall and Oates 45s. And start collecting gadgets now, hipster infants. Your college self won't regret it.
