Investigators receive nearly 1,000 tips in case of Sierra LaMar, missing Calif. teen

(CBS/KPIX) MORGAN HILL- Authorities searching for missing California teen Sierra LaMar say they have received nearly 1,000 tips in connection to the case.

According to CBS San Francisco, the tips have come through email and an anonymous tip line to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.

"They are continuing to come in," Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Jose Cardoza reportedly said. "As each day goes on in this case, there are now close to a thousand tips."

Sierra, 15, was last seen heading out of her Morgan Hill home to get to school the morning of March 16. There is still no named person of interest in the case nor any suspect vehicle.

Investigators are still awaiting forensics tests on clothing and condoms found in the search area, CBS San Francisco reports. A core group of 40 investigators reportedly remain assigned to the case.

Anyone with information about Sierra or her whereabouts is asked to contact Santa Clara County Communications at (408) 299-2311. During business hours, tipsters can call sheriff's investigators at (408) 808-4500 or the anonymous tip line at (408) 808-4431.
