Industry Moves: Ogilvy CEO Lazarus Stepping Down; Asia Pacific Chair Miles Young Tapped As Successor

This story was written by David Kaplan.

After 10 years in the CEO seat, Ogilvy & Mather CEO Shelly Lazarus is expected to announce that she'll leave her post by the end of this year, WSJ reported, citing unidentified sources. Lazarus will retain her current title of chairman when she steps down. Her expected successor at CEO is Miles Young, chairman of Ogilvy's Asia Pacific region. The move is seen as a sign of the increased importance of the Asian region for the WPP Group creative agency.

Lazarus has been with Ogilvy for 30 years. After holding a number of executive posts beginning in 1991, she was named CEO in 1996, and became Chairman in 1997. Young has been with the agency since 1983.
