Industry Moves: Former Philanthropy Chief Brilliant Leaves Google

This story was written by Joseph Tartakoff.

Two months ago, Larry Brilliant was bumped up into the role of chief philanthropic evangelist at Google (NSDQ: GOOG). Now, he's leaving the search giant for a new job. Brilliant will head up a new $100 million grant-making fund at the Skoll Foundation, which is led by former *eBay* president Jeff Skoll.

Before moving on to his new Google job in February, Brilliant was executive director at Google's philanthropic arm, Google.org. In a blog post Tuesday announcing his departure, Brilliant said he was "not 'leaving Google' so much as ... going down the road to work with a friend and colleague and I hope that in the coming months and years we can expand that relationship even more." (Hmmm. Sure seems to us like he's leaving Google.)
