Industry Moves: Cartoon Network Gets New Gaming VP

This story was written by Tameka Kee.

Cartoon Network is promoting company vet Chris Waldron to VP of gaming operations. Waldron will oversee the network's growing casual games business, including internal game development, production and overall strategy. He'll also continue in his role as executive producer of FusionFall, the kid-friendly MMO Cartoon Network launched in January (via Gamasutra).

FusionFall is the network's first foray into subscription-based game territory. Kids can play for free, or get unlimited access for about $6 per month; the company says it over 4 million registered users, though it didn't break down how many were paid accounts. The Cartoon Network site also boasts over 200 free games. Waldron has been with the network since 2000; he joined as director of technology for Cartoon Network New Media, and then headed up parent company Turner's first internal game studio three years later.
