INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Police say a 4-year-old girl may have shot herself and her mother early Sunday morning, according to Indianapolis police.
Police responding to the woman and child’s home were met by the father, who said he and his fiancée were asleep when one shot rang out. He said the girl shot herself in the face, sending the bullet through her cheek and into the woman’s head.
The girl and the woman are both being treated at hospitals and are expected to survive.
A 2-year-old boy was also in the room, but was not hurt ind the incident.
Charges have not been filed in the case, but police said in a statement that the state’s child protective services agency is investigating.
