Indian Software Mogul Pulls a Bill Gates

"Even if I was to give my children a small part of my wealth, it would be more than they can digest in many lifetimes,'' billionaire software mogul Azim Premji, told Forbes.

The objective: To give away most of the considerable wealth he has built during a career as one of India's most storied tech entrepreneurs.

"To those to whom much is given, much has to be given back," Premji said in the interview, drawing immediate parallels with Microsoft founder Bill Gates, who also plans to give away most of his money during his lifetime."

As CNET News.com's Ina Fried notes today, it's a familiar storyline: Software executive makes billions building his company, realizes that with wealth comes responsibility and pledges the bulk of his fortune to charity.
