• Huntley was born in Union, Pennsylvania. He moved to Idaho more than 50 years ago when he headed out to the University of Idaho to earn both his undergraduate and law degrees.

• He spent three years on a Navy destroyer escort during the Korean War and served 19 years as a naval intelligence reserve officer. He retired from the military with the rank of captain.

• Huntley is an avid mountain climber, and trekked to the 18,500 foot base camp of Mount Everest in 1957.

• HuntleyÂ's previous forays into elected office include one term on the Pocatello City Council (1962-64) and one term in the Idaho House of Representatives (1965-67).

• Huntley has been active in the Boy Scouts of America for two decades. When his sons were growing up, he served as Den Leader, Assistant Scout Master, and then Scout Master. Since 1982, he has served as Troop Committee and Outdoor Coordinator for Troop 100 in Boise.

• Appointed in 1982 by Governor John Evans (D) to the Supreme Court of Idaho, Huntley served as a Supreme Court Justice for seven years.

• In 1989, he left the bench and returned to private practice as a partner at the Boise law firm of Givens, Pursley & Huntley. He represented Lon Horiuchi, the FBI sharpshooter who killed the wife of white separatist Randy Weaver during the showdown at Ruby idge. The manslaughter charges against Horiuchi have been dropped.



• Huntley has practiced law for more than 30 years, specializing in employment law, workerÂ's compensation and environmental law. He has spent most of his career in private practice.
