(CBS) What's not to love about ice cream, especially on a hot summer day?

Plenty, if you're looking to steer clear of excess calories, fat, and sugar.

A relatively modest bowl of chocolate ice cream (about four ounces) packs about 250 calories, for example. And that's before you add the nuts and whipped cream.

But there is a way to have your ice cream and eat it too. All it takes is a bit of detective work - to home in on healthy alternatives that taste good without delivering all the bad nutritional wallop.

That's the message from the editors of Men's Health magazine, which has made a sugar-free mint off its blockbuster "Eat This, Not That!" books.

Recently, one of the magazine's editors, Matt Bean, appeared the CBS News' The Early Show to share his picks for ice cream products it's okay to eat - and which to avoid.
