How to Protect Your Notebook
Even if your notebook was a $399 Best Buy special like this one, it's still an expensive piece of equipment. Web Worker daily offers four suggestions for protecting your notebook investment, including one I wholeheartedly echo:
Get a Decent Bag - However rugged your computer, I wouldn't recommend dropping it with wild abandon. But eventually you will drop it -- and you'll likely be better off if it's in a decently padded bag. We've looked at choosing the perfect bag before -- from the standpoint of investment protection, just remember that you want to prioritize "sturdy" over "stylish."The other suggestions include buying a ruggedized model (not worth the extra expense, IMHO), splurging on an extended warranty (my take: only if it's reasonably priced), and adding it to your insurance policy (definitely worthwhile if you own a pricey model). Of course, the best protection of all is having a good backup, because while your hardware can be replaced, your data can't.
