How to Exercise in Your Airplane Seat
At best, air travel feels like sitting in a sardine can for hours at a time. At worst, it can kill you: Extended periods of sitting can result in deep vein thrombosis, a potentially deadly blood clot.
Northwest Airlines lists a number of things you can do to thwart DVT, starting with drinking plenty of water and walking the aisles whenever possible. And if you scroll down the page a bit, you'll find 10 exercises you can perform right in your seat -- all of them designed to keep your muscles loose and your blood flowing.
Lots of luck with the "forward bends" maneuver, however -- no way does a coach seat have enough room to let you bend that far without banging your head. Maybe Northwest could reduce our risk of death by giving us a little more legroom? [via That's Fit]
