House Dems Cancel Meeting On Iraq

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and House Democratic leaders canceled a members-only meeting on the Iraq funding bill schedule for tonight because Democrats were unable to reach any kind of agreement on the issue, according to Democratic leadership aides.

Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) met with White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten and top Republican leaders last week on the proposal, which both sides have pledged to complete by Memorial Day, but no progress was made, and none appears to have taken place today, despite continued discussions. Therefore, Pelosi opted not to hold a get together for Democratic lawmakers today.
