Hottest Handbags, In Time For Summer

One of the simplest things you can do to update your wardrobe is buy a fashionable bag.

The editors at Lucky magazine (www.luckymag.com) just put together a list of their favorite trendy bags.

Kim France, Lucky's editor in chief, brought some of those favorites to The Early Show Tuesday.

This season, says France, there are so many styles and prices to choose from that there's a new bag out there for everyone. Lucky's annual bag guide featured offerings from $17 to $2,200.

TREND NO. 1: SOFT STRAW
Not your basic beach bag anymore, this season's soft straw bags are sophisticated with rich leather accents and shiny hardware, and make a great neutral everyday bag.

1. YSL large tote, $1,095
2. Banana Republic, $198
3. Kenneth Cole, $338
4. Elliott Lucca, $198
5. Brooks Brothers, $328
6. Rafe, $395
The model was wearing a skirt, bright tank and shrunken jacket.

TREND NO. 2: SPORTY STRIPE
These bags are crisp, clean and casual, yet sophisticated. Perfect for summer worn with jeans and a less structured top on the weekend.

1. Brooks Brothers white leather structured satchel, $398
2. Corn Lane available at FredFlare.com large white tote, $42
3. Victor Hugo small ladylike hobo, $348
4. FreddyandMa.com customized tote, $340
5. L.A.M.B. bag, $675 at select Nordstrom
The model was wearing jeans, a flowy, nautical-inspired top, and patent leather wedges.

TREND NO. 3: BRIGHT PATENT LEATHER
This is probably the biggest trend of the season, or at least the one with the most impact, because of the array of colors and shapes we're seeing. One of the biggest surprises: bright, but chic.

1. Nine West lime green, $89
2. Savoy yellow hobo from Accessories.com, $330
3. Be & D turquoise clutch at Saks Fifth Avenue, $595
4. Rafe navy hobo, $475
5. NY & Co pink clutch, $24.95
6. Francesco Biasia red satchel, $308
7. Miu Miu red patent leather, $890
The model was wearing a neutral menswear trend: pants, vest, jacket and ballet flats. This adds zip and burst of color to an otherwise classic menswear look for work.

TREND NO. 4: SNAKESKIN
Animal skins, faux or real, are decadent. They have an edge to them, so are fun to pair with more feminine looks.

1. Stuart Weitzman blue clutch, $450
2. Rafe gray clutch, $150
3. Felix Rey beige clutch, $540
4. Stuart Weitzman rose hobo, $595
5. Michael Kors large satchel, $2495
6. New York & Co (faux) snakeskin clutch, $17
The model was wearing feminine pale green dress.

TREND NO. 5: PRINTED CANVAS
These bags offer an array of patterns that add color to simple looks and can take you from work to the weekend.
