Hot New Swimwear, Miami-Style

Miami is always right out front on the hottest swimwear trends.

Residents are not only exposed to it 365 days a year, but live it and wear it.

Not only are a number of swimwear designers based in Miami, but there's a big South American influence, with lots of the trends coming to Miami from Brazil and Argentina before making it to the rest of the United States.

In addition, Miami Fashion Week of the Americas showcases many South American and other international designers' work, and the Swimwear Association of Florida puts on the largest swim show in the world, at which buyers from more than 46 countries purchase swim and beachwear for their boutiques.

On The Early Show Friday, Erika Sussman, style editor of Florida International magazine and owner of a new high-end designer boutique, Alchemist in Miami Beach, said popular swimwear trends this year include tribal influences, metallics, unexpected textures and fabrics, girly details, as well as retro and vintage influences.

She brought along eight cheerleaders for National Football League teams to model examples.
