Homicide detectives investigate pair found dead in L.A. home
HACIENDA HEIGHTS, Calif. -- Homicide detectives are investigating a report of a man and a woman found dead just before 4:15 p.m. Wednesday in a Los Angeles home, CBS Los Angeles reports.
Police told reporters the female was 84-years-old. They did not identify the male.
The victims were found in separate rooms after friends asked police to check on them. Their bodies may have been there for some time, according to the station. Police are trying to determine the cause of death as part of their investigation.
Officials said they hoped to gather clues from a beige four-door 2001 Toyota Camry missing from the premises.
The woman's son was reportedly previously arrested for elder abuse, but police told the station he had been in custody for several months.
The deaths have neighbors on edge, according to CBS Los Angeles.
"What am I supposed to say," said Janice Park. "I have two nephews on this block. They're like babies that live with me. What am I supposed to say to that? Kinda makes me wanna leave a little bit."
Police released the license plate of the missing vehicle. It is 7LXV190.
