Holy Cow! "Last Supper" Portions Grow 69%

An analysis of the increasing size of food portions based off the plates served in the most famous paintings of "The Last Supper" will have you saying "Holy Cow!"

In the past millennium, the sizes of main courses in the 52 most popular versions of the Gospel story depicting Jesus Christ's last meal have risen 69 percent, with plate sizes increasing 66 percent, mostly since the year 1500, according to researchers Brian and Craig Wansink, USA Today reports.

The variety of "Last Supper" paintings provide insight into the changes in eating habits, the researchers said.

The findings were published in April's International Journal of Obesity.
