Fischer was last seen on May 27, in Newport, Tennessee by her father. Friends say she was believed to be heading back to Charlotte, but apparently never arrived. Her car was found Saturday down an embankment in Wilkes County off of Highway 16, CBS affiliate WBTV reports.

The Charlotte Observer describes the area where the the car was found as mountainous and the vehicle as being discovered "down a steep ravine." Police have not yet said if there was any sign of Fischer in or near the vehicle.

Multiple media outlets are reporting that the car was located after a motorcyclist found car tracks off the road, which searcher followed to the 2004 Infiniti SUV.

A friend of Fischer's, Liz Stafford, previously said it was unlike her to just take off, WBTV reports.

"It's unlike Holly to be--to go off the radar and gone off the radar and gone silent," she insisted. "So we need to find her."
