(CBS) - Lady Antebellum singer Hillary Scott got one sweet surprise over Fourth of July weekend.

The 25-year-old country star's boyfriend, drummer Chris Tyrell, proposed during a family vacation in East Tennessee.

"Chris proposed exactly the way I've always dreamed," Scott, 25, tells People magazine. "Our families were close by, but it was just us out on a beautiful deck overlooking a lake in East Tennessee."

She adds: "We had just been on a hike and - in our workout clothes - he hit the knee! We feel so blessed by God that He sent us each other, and we are looking so forward to forever together!"

Scott and Tyrell, a drummer for Eden's Edge on Brad Paisley's H20 II tour, met while touring with Tim McGraw in early 2010. No date for their wedding has been set.

On top of wedding planning, Scott has big plans this summer with fellow Lady A bandmates Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood. The Grammy award-winning group's new album," Own the Night," will be released on Sept. 13 and their first headlining tour will kickoff Sept. 20.
