Hillary Clinton To Testify On 'ballot Integrity'

Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.), a leading candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008, will testify before a Senate panel on Wednesday regarding an issue close to Democrats' hearts - a paper record for everyone who votes.

The Senate Rules and Administration Committee, chaired by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), is holding a hearing on S. 1487, the "Ballot Integrity Act," which Feinstein introduced back on May 24. Cosponsors include Clinton and other Democratic presidential candidates, including Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.), Joe Biden (Del.) and Christopher Dodd (Conn.).

"The hearing will examine the benefits of various technologies to help ensure the accuracy of vote counts in federal elections, identify necessary reforms for the administration of elections, and discuss a realistic timeline for implementation of new requirements for voter-verified paper ballots and manual public audits of elections," the Rules Committee said a release announcing Clinton's appearance.
