High-End Fashion for Low-End Prices
High fashion has always meant high prices.
No more.
Elite designers are now coming out with special lines for specific stores designed to save you money -- and you don't have to go too far to find them, as style contributor Katrina Szish demonstrated on "The Early Show on Saturday Morning."
Szish put models wearing affordable looks side-by-side with their pricey counterparts, and challenged the show's co-anchors, and viewers, to see if they could tell which were the steals, and which were the splurges.
Szish had three looks: work, weekend and cocktail:
(Prices below don't include accessories)
OUTFIT 1: WORK
For the work look, both models wore a yellow dress with a black blazer. The "steal" for this look is from Reem Acra, who recently came out with a line for Home Shopping Network, simply called Reem. Steal: $290 (dress: $200); Splurge $671.
Acra's new HSN line will range from $39 to $299 and debut on Sept. 22 and 23. "I watched HSN night after night for more than a month," Acra said. "I would come to work very tired because I watched too much HSN."
OUTFIT 2: CASUAL
The casual/weekend look models wore black skinny jeans, a loose black floral top, and a vest. The "steal" for this look is from Rachel Roy's line for Macy's, dubbed Rachel Rachel Roy. Steal: $318 (vest: $150; pants: $89, blouse: $79), Splurge $996.
OUTFIT 3: COCKTAIL
For the cocktail outfit, the models had a purple dress on. The "steal" look is from Vera Wang's line, "Simply Vera" which is available at Kohl's. Steal: $50, Splurge: $500.
