Herman Cain: I'd be "ecstatic" with 5th place in Iowa

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain came in fifth in Saturday's Iowa straw poll - and apparently, he's happy with that positioning: In a Fox News interview on Monday, Cain said he'd be "ecstatic" if he made the top five in subsequent contests.

When asked by Fox News' Martha MacCallum about his "next marker" in the campaign Cain, the former CEO of Godfather's Pizza, said he'd be more than happy with a fifth place finish in Iowa and New Hampshire.

"I will finish at number five in Iowa -- that's right where we want to be," Cain said. "If we finish in the top five in New Hampshire, Martha, we will be ecstatic, because we're gonna put the same type of on the ground effort in New Hampshire that we did in Iowa, and we're also working South Carolina simultaneously."

Despite early buzz, Cain's momentum has largely faded in the face of a series of gaffes and campaign turmoil - and he'll likely need to perform well in at least one early-voting state if he wants to stay in the race.

South Carolina may be the southern businessman's target: the Atlanta resident was raised in Georgia and, as the recent host of a talk radio show in the region, likely has name recognition in the South that he lacks elsewhere.
