Hensarling Targets Yoga, Puppet Shows, Bingo And More

Republicans are volubly upset with the Democrats' decision to add special projects to spending bills during the always-dicey last stage of the legislative process, and Rep. Jeb Hensarling is taking his anger out on yoga, puppet shows and much, much more.

The Texas Republican, who chairs a prominent group of House conservatives, has already offered 73 amendments to a spending bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security. They include amendments to prohibit the Federal Emergency Management Agency from funding yoga classes and puppet shows or preventing the recipients of federal emergency relief from purchasing Louis Vuitton handbags.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
