Heat's Hardaway Fined $5,000
Tim Hardaway, a disappointment as the Miami Heat fell behind 2-1 in their best-of-5 NBA playoff series with the New York Knicks, was fined $5,000 Friday for verbal abuse of officials and refusing to leave the court in a timely fashion after his ejection from Game 3.
The league imposed the fine against the banged-up Hardaway, who was automatically ejected after incurring two technical fouls during the Heat's 97-73 loss Wednesday night.
Hardaway, bothered by a sore right knee, shot less than 19 percent from the field in the first three games and averaged only 7.3 points. He made only one of 14 3-point field goals, and averaged 4.0 turnovers.
Game 4 is Friday night at Madison Square Garden.
