HEALTHCARE CHALLENGE....Libertarian Arnold Kling talks about our recent healthcare battles. His conclusion:
I once wrote that "The original sin of America's health care system is employer-provided health insurance." The best outcome might be for America to abolish employer-provided health insurance, try single-payer, have it fail, and then experiment with the sorts of policies that I talk about in my book.I'm up for that. Like Kling, I have the courage of my convictions. Medicare (i.e., single-payer healthcare for the elderly) has been around for 40 years and the elderly don't seem to think it's a failure. In fact, they like it quite a bit better than the rest of us like what we have now. Bring it on, baby.
