"Hannibal" lands April 4 premiere date on NBC

NBC has set a premiere date for its adaptation of "Hannibal."

Bryan Fuller's drama about psychologist-turned-serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter will debut on the network on April 4 at 10 p.m. ET.

Fuller ("Pushing Daisies") tweeted the news Thursday:

That time slot was most recently the home of the short-lived freshman drama "Do No Harm," which was canceled last week after just two episodes.

"Hannibal" stars Hugh Dancy as Will Graham, a criminal profiler on the hunt for a serial killer who enlists Dr. Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) for help with the case. According to NBC, only viewers will know that Lecter is a serial killer himself.

The series also stars Laurence Fishburne and Caroline Dhavernas. "The X-Files" star Gillian Anderson will also appear for a three-episode arc, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
